Schools allow parents more involvement in their children's
education by combining the traditional private classroom
environment with homeschooling. Classes are attended Tuesday
and Thursday with optional electives on Wednesday. This
allows for more family time on alternate days as parents
guide their children through detailed lessons given by the
teacher to complete their student's education. This formula
allows for better character development as quality
relationships between parents and children are fostered.

from 6-7pm at Concordia Lutheran in the main sanctuary. The
recital is titled "Songs of God and Love." It is a fundraiser
recital, but donations are optional. I need to raise funds
because I was invited by Gary Mabry of UTSA to sing on a concert at
Carnegie Hall in New York City with some other women singers. I homeschool, so obviously I'm not wealthy, hence this recital! Also
performing on the recital are Michael Richter (classical guitar),
Madalyn Blanchett (flute), Cindy Ellis (piano), Gary Lohmeyer (piano)
and Olivia Morales (violin). Please come and enjoy an evening of song.
Note: Olivia Morales is a 14 year old Homeschooler who plays with the
Youth Orchestras of San Antonio!

art and drama will invite the young and old to experience the ways
that our ancestors lived.
Additionally, an archeological dig,
interaction with Roman Soldiers and a Black Hawk helicopter will be on
the grounds. Parents, students and community members are invited to be
a part of this "living history."

ENGLISH COUNTRY DANCING Happens once a month, the first
Saturday of the month, 7:30 pm at Incarnate Word Univ next to
Central Market. The dances are partner dances done in a long line
of couples, as seen in the latest Pride and Prejudice movie. There
is no footwork or steps to learn, the couples dance figures that
move them up and down the line. It is a great activity for the
whole family. Suggested donation for adults is $2.00, and kids are
always free. From Broadway, enter the driveway across from Denny's
and follow the signs back to the Garden Room.
INTERNATIONAL DANCING Takes place every Friday at Lions
Field Rec Center, 2809 Broadway (at Mulberry) Yes it is a senior
center, but young people are invited for international dancing on
Fridays, 7:30 pm. These dances are easy and mostly line or circle
dances from countries like Romania, Greece, Israel, and France, among
others. The dances and music are traditional, we learned them from
dance teachers from the respective countries. So it's a great
opportunity to learn about other cultures, choose an activity that
provides some exercise, and suitable for the whole family, because
there's no smoking or alcohol here! Kids come free, and for adults
$2.00 suggested donation. Wear comfortable, sensible shoes, and casual
clothes.
The Home School group is open to all ages and grade levels. It
is recommended that children be able to swim at least one length
of a 25 yard pool to enroll. Instruction is designed to
accommodate a variety of swim abilities. The Wave Home School
program is geared toward helping Home Schoolers fulfill their PE
requirement, while becoming water safe, better swimmers and having
fun at the same time.
The group trains at the Alamo Heights High School (6900 Broadway)
on Monday, Wed. and Friday at 1:15 pm. Your children can attend any or
all of those 3 days that work best. Home School swimmers may compete
at the weekend meets, if desired. By participating in an early
afternoon practice, the evening hours belong to your family. Please
call Coach Susan, for try-out information: 210-488-1923.
