Event: High School Physics Photo Contest

5/15/2010 Saturday

Photo Contest Details

The contest is open to high school students in grades 9-12 (or equivalent international grade level). Students must print out, sign, and return the Contest Rules and Entry Agreement, available in PDF and HTML versions, when submitting their entry. Failure to submit this form will invalidate the contest entry. Entries are limited to 15 per school each year. If possible, please place all entries from the school in one package.

Photos may be in one of two categories described below, and will be judged on the quality of the photo and the accuracy of the physics in the explanation that accompanies the photograph.

Categories
Students may submit an entry in one (not both) of two categories:

  • Natural — any situation that you saw occurring and photoraphed
  • Contrived —a situation where the objects were manipulated to produce the phenomena photographed

Prizes
Vernier Software & Technology has contributed prizes for first, second, and third place winners, a certificate for honorable mention and prizes for the teachers of winning students in each category.

In the past, we have had problems with incomplete contact information. We cannot mail your prize if we do not have your complete mailing addresses. Email and phone numbers may be used to contact you with questions, including clarifications of mailing addresses, but will not be sold or otherwise used for marketing purposes.

Judging
The 100 best entries will be displayed and judged during the annual Summer Meeting of the American Association of Physics Teachers. If more than 100 entries are received, a group of volunteer physics teachers will determine the 100 best entries. Please read the complete contest rules on the Entry Form before signing and returning it with your entry. Failure to abide by all rules will result in disqualification.
