Reading Teacher's Book of Lists, The |
| Author: Fry, Kress, Fountoukidis, Fry |
| OK, so you see this book and you think, a list of books for teaching reading.
I can just get it off of the web. Not exactly.
The book consists of 194 lists. All kinds of lists. From List 14,
the 1000 most common words--get your spelling lists here to List 171. Murphy's
Law and Others--philosophy anyone? to List 116. Rubrics for Writing-- Elementary
/Intermediate--now you can evaluate those book reports to List 92. Games and
Methods for Teaching--what to do you when you run out of ideas and to my
favorite List 89. Report Card Helps--"Requires ongoing supervision in order
to work well" or more bluntly "is lazy."
The lists are divided into the following categories:
phonics
useful words
vocabulary
subject words
literature
writing
instructions
comprehension and study skills
assessment
spelling
the internet
ESL/Language
word play fun
abbreviations, symbols, and signs
reference.
The book also provides a User's Guide that organizes the lists by grade
levels from kindergarten to high school. Your child isn't going to out
grow it any time soon. Neither will you, for that matter with groups of
lists for Teacher Interest and Methods (including the internet), Adult Literacy,
and Writing. What more can I say other than from List 145. Emotions- this
book will get you :-o and you certainly won't be :-(). Definitely check it
out. |
