Chemistry for Kids

San Antonio, TX
Website

The UTSA Chemistry Club, in conjuction with UTSA faculty and staff have been training very hard to produce a fun and educational show called, "Is It Chemistry or Magic?" This is a chemical lecture/demonstration designed to explain what chemistry is and to show chemistry in action. Specifically, the presentation attempts to show the excitement and wonder associated with the discipline of Chemistry through various entertaining chemical demonstrations. We illustrate chemical and other scientific principals through what can only be described as a "Chemistry Magic Show."

The demonstration is completely free!
It is approximately 45 minutes long.
All Chem Club students will be accompanied by one to two professors holding Doctoral degrees in the field of Chemistry.
The show is safe, interactive, and we are very welcoming of any and all questions.
If your homeschool group has a preferred venue, we can perform the show there. If not, there is a possibility that UTSA can host the show on campus depending on how much interest this e-mail generates amongst homeschoolers.

Allthough the show was originally designed for middle school through highschool students, I believe elementary students will be entertained as well! This is an excellent opportunity for homeschool families to expose their children to the science of Chemistry in a fun and exciting way!

If you have any questions, or would like to arrange a date and time for your group, please feel free to contact me by e-mail at

Sincerely,
Amy M. Fischer
UTSA Chemistry Club Representative
